i want to try and understand the tuning and gearing thing.

Forza 2 is my first racing sim. i want understand more about this game.

i'm not bad at designing cars, but when it comes to tuning no idea.

what do you do first when you buy a car?

where do you start if your going to tune a car?

if you adjust one part, what other parts do you need to adjust? etc etc.

if you have set up how do tune the car for a different track?

or is it leave it to pro's.

any tips or website to visit.

you guys should write a manual, like Hayes Manual. i would buy it :D

Feuerdog's Tuning Calculator

Great place to start^^^ Although it doesn't go into gearing at all.

The first place to start when deciding to build/tune a car is to decide what you to do with the car... do you want a speed car? or a grip car? or a balance between the 2? Then you build the car accordingly. Once you have the car built to the class you want... take it for a spin around a track and see how it drives... this will give you an idea of what its doing and what you want to make it do... then plug the required numbers into the tuning calculator along with the desired damper tweaks from the dropdown menus. It'll give you a good base tune to work from, but keep in mind that all cars are going to need tweaks.

As far as gearing goes.... its kinda a thing I do by feel so its difficult to explain...

Hope this helps some.
